ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The St. Lawrence University men's soccer team came to Bard on Friday as the top-ranked team in the country.
The Saints lived up to their reputation.
St. Lawrence dominated Bard, 5-0, in a Liberty League game, outshooting the Raptors 29-2. The Saints are 9-0 overall, 2-0 in the Liberty League, and the top team in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for two weeks running.
Bard (3-7, 0-2 Liberty League) battled and kept the game scoreless for just over 13 minutes, but the bigger, stronger, faster Saints eventually broke through.
Goals by juniors Brian Gilloran (Guilford, CT) and Sam DeMello (Easthampton, MA) made it 2-0 by halftime, and freshman Jamal Sarnaroo (Brooklyn, NY) made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute.
When St. Lawrence went to its reserves, they kept scoring, too. Sophomore Craig Davis (Richmond Hill, ONT) scored twice in just over a minute to make it 5-0.
Bard managed just one shot on goal. Senior keeper
Deven Connelly (High Falls, NY) was kept busy, making nine saves.
Next up for Bard is another Liberty League match, Saturday at home against Clarkson at 2.
