BENNINGTON, Vt. - The Bard College men's soccer team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie the match by halftime, but Southern Vermont scored twice in the second half to earn a 4-2 win over the Raptors on Saturday afternoon.
Southern Vermont (2-0) scored in the third minute to take a 1-0 on a shot by Pierre Massena, and Massena scored again about 20 minutes later to give the Mountaineers a 2-0 lead midway through the first half.
Bard (0-2) got its first goal of the season from senior
Jonah Peterschild in the 26th minute, off an assist from sophomore
Christian Letourneau, and an own-goal by Southern Vermont tied the scored a 2-2 a few minutes later. It stayed that way until halftime.
Connor Murray scored just over three minutes into the second half, and Nick Haggerty made it 4-2 in the 74th minute as the Mountaineers pulled away.
Southern Vermont outshot Bard, 16-8, and collected five corners to Bard's one.
Deven Connelly made nine saves.
