PURCHASE, N.Y. - With one game left in his collegiate career,
Jacob Hartog is one goal away from tying the school record for goals in a career.
Hartog scored three times and assisted on the first career goal of freshman
Eliot Thompson as Bard blanked SUNY Purchase, 5-0, on Tuesday night in a non-league game.
The hat trick gives Hartog 10 goals on the season and 49 for his career. The all-time scoring mark at Bard is held by Stewart Wagner, who scored 50 goals in a career that ended just a few years ago. To tie the mark, Hartog will have to score on Saturday at Vassar as the Brewers host Senior Day in Poughkeepsie at noon.
Jonah Peterschild opened the scoring in the sixth minute, putting home a corner kick from
Cullan Powers. Hartog later scored a pair of goals one minute and 20 seconds apart, and Bard led, 3-0, at halftime.
Hartog hit a cross to Thompson in the 57th minute, and the tall freshman scored to make it 4-0. And Hartog wrapped up a terrific night with his third goal in the 73rd minute, off a feed from Peterschild. He produced 13 shots, six on goal, and three went in.
Deven Connelly made two saves before being replaced by Damianos Lazaridis midway through the second half. Bard is 5-11-1.
SUNY Purchase is 6-7-2.
