Bard falls to No. 15 Hobart, 4-1

Jacob Hartog scored the 44th goal of his collegiate career on Friday, but Bard lost to Hobart, 4-1.
GENEVA, N.Y. - An own-goal in the first minute of the game set the tone early, and 15th-ranked Hobart College went on to defeat Bard, 4-1, in a Liberty League game on Friday.

The Statesmen, 12-2 overall and 3-2 in the Liberty League, led 1-0 after 38 seconds, and 2-0 in the sixth minute after senior Tommy Hayes (East Northport, NY) scored an unassisted goal. Hayes scored again in the 16th minute, and freshman Kyle Herod (Lancaster, NY) made it 4-0 before halftime.

Hobart outshot Bard, 16-0, in the first half.

In the second half, Bard senior Jacob Hartog scored on a breakaway in the 55th minute, but Bard managed just one more shot on goal after that point and fell to 3-10 overall, 0-5 in the Liberty League.

The goal was Hartog's fifth of the season, giving him 44 for his career. The career scoring mark at Bard is 50 and it is held by Stewart Wagner.

He'll get another shot to score again on Saturday when Bard takes on RIT at 2 p.m. on the road.
