ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Marc Zeyek's goal just over three minutes into the second half proved to be the game-winner as the Union College men's soccer team defeated Bard, 2-0, in a non-conference game on Tuesday night.
Union, 7-1-1 overall, dominated play but failed to penetrate Bard's defense for the entire first half. Zeyak took a pass from John Manna on a full volley and blasted in into the top of the net from close range early in the second half.
Union made it 2-0 on a goal by Sahr Nyuma in the 81st minute. The Dutchmen are currently on top of the Liberty League standings. Bard will be joining the Liberty League next fall.
Bard had one good opportunity to score, and it came in the second half. Junior
Jacob Hartog (San Francisco, CA) dribbled the ball past the goalie at the near post, but his tough-angled shot was headed away by a Union defender.
Deven Connelly (High Falls, NY) made six saves for the Raptors, who are 3-6 overall.
Bard next plays at St. Joseph's College in a Skyline Conference game at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
