ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - It was a night of firsts for the Bard College men's soccer team on Thursday.
Freshman
Dam Linh Nguyen (Warsaw, Poland) scored his first goal of the season. So did sophomore
Chet Darrow (New York, NY). And striker
Jacob Hartog picked up his first assist of the season as Bard topped Mount Saint Mary, 2-0, as the Skyline Conference playoffs near.
Hartog's pass from midfield found Nguyen streaking toward goal in the opening seconds of the game, and Nguyen chipped a shot past Mount goalkeeper Matthew Darling for a 1-0 lead just 19 seconds into the game.
Darrow blasted a shot home off a rebound in the 57th minute, keeping Bard's hopes for a high playoff seed alive.
Bard, 5-3 in the Skyline Conference and 7-8 overall, will next play NYU-Polytechnic on Saturday at 1 as part of Family Weekend at Bard.
