Weitz has coached two-time Liberty League Men's Swimmer of the Year, Dio Tzortzis. He has totaled 55 Liberty League All-Academic Team honorees, including a program high of 13 on the All-Academic Team during the 2024-25 season.

His collegiate coaching experience began at Seton Hall University, where he was an assistant from 1992-95. He was an assistant coach at national powerhouse Johns Hopkins from 2001-2008, where he coached present day Johns Hopkins coach, Scott Armstrong to a D3 National record in the Mile.  Those were some of the Blue Jays’ most successful seasons and included two 2nd place and two 3rd place finishes at the NCAA Championships.

From Johns Hopkins, Weitz took over as head coach at Wabash College.  He was there from 2008-2010, leading them to their best finish (3rd) in the NCAC, a national powerhouse conference that includes Kenyon and Denison.

At the youth level, Weitz was a three-time National YMCA Coach of the Year nominee while running the program at the Somerset Hills YMCA in Basking Ridge, N.J. While there, he coached swimmers to four individual and two relay national championships. He was the head coach for three years at the prestigious Gilman School in Baltimore, Md. Before arriving at Bard, Weitz served five years as the head senior coach with the New Canaan, CT YMCA Caimans.

In his other role as Aquatics Director, Weitz manages all programs associated with the Stevenson Athletic Center natatorium, outside of the varsity programs.
