Chad Smith

Chad Smith enters his first season as the assistant women’s basketball coach. 

Smith comes to the Hudson Valley from St. Bonaventure, where he worked as the assistant coach and director of operations for the 2024-25 season. The season prior, he worked as a video coordinator for the Bonnies.

He spent the 2022-23 season as a graduate manager with the Evansville men's basketball team where he assisted the coaching staff with film breakdowns and conducting on-court workouts.

Prior to his time in Indiana, Smith served as the 16-U head coach and director of operations for the Built4Ball AAU program from 2019-22 while also working as a scout for the high school scouting service Prep Hoops in Spokane, Wash. He has also spent time as the assistant coach at Cheney High School from 2018-20 as well as the Fort Drum Post Team from 2016-18.

Before Smith began work in basketball, he served the U.S. Army for 10 years from 2008-18, earning an Army Commendation Medal, an Army Achievement Medal, an Iraq Campaign Medal with two Campaign Stars and an Army Good Conduct Medal.

Smith earned his bachelor's degree in psychology in May 2022 from Gonzaga University and graduated with a master's degree of science in leadership from Evansville in December 2023. He is on track to finish his master’s degree of science in Sports Management from the University of Florida in 2025.
