Billy Poole-Harris arrived at Bard in the summer of 2021.
He came to Bard after three years as an assistant coach in NCAA Div. I. He was an assistant coach on the cross country and track & field teams, specializing in distance, at Indiana State University from 2019-21. The year before that, he a volunteer assistant for the track & field teams at Northern Illinois University.
From 2006-18, Billy was the Head Cross Country and Assistant Track & Field coach at Whitney M. Young High School in Chicago. He oversaw the development of 29 individual state qualifiers and 14 relay team qualifiers. In 2016, Whitney M. Young became the first Chicago Public School to win a sectional championship.
Poole-Harris is also the founder, owner and President of Windy City Hammers Youth Track Club. It started in 2012 with 13 athletes, and it now boasts an annual roster of better than 100 between the ages of 8-18. The club has raised better than $4,000 annually since 2014 to help supplement the efforts of athetes from low-income families.
Poole-Harris earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Exercise Science and Fitness Management in 2008 from Concordia University.
