Craig Thorpe-Clark was the Head Men's Squash Coach in the summer of 2014. He took on the task of starting the Women's Squash program in the fall of 2016. After nine years at the helm, Thorpe-Clark stepped down during the summer of 2023 but will still be helping as the Assistant Men's and Women's Squash Coach.Â
A native of Australia, Thorpe-Clark has been coaching and officiating squash for decades. Before coming to Bard, Thorpe-Clark served as the head men's squash coach at the University of Pennsylvania from 1999-2010. At Penn, he led the team to a 95-75 record and never finished a season ranked lower than 13th in the country. He twice guided the Quakers to a top-five ranking and he coached seven All-Americans and six All-Ivy League selections.
In the early 1990s, Thorpe-Clark was the Head Coach of the U.S. Women's National Team. Prior to coaching at Penn, Thorpe-Clark coached the men's and women's teams at Vassar College.
Under his direction, the Bard men's team won the prestigious Sloane Award for Sportsmanship after the 2015-16 season. And after the 2016-17 season, he was named the Liberty League Coach of the Year.
Craig has been a board member for the College Squash Association for years and did terms as Treasurer and President, respectively.
