Brian Praetorius came to Bard in August of 2017.
A native of nearby Saugerties, PraetoriusĀ spent seven seasons as the lead men's lacrosse assistant at Trinity College before arriving in Annandale. As Recruiting Coordinator and Offensive Coordinator, the Bantams approached or set several team offensive records during his tenure there, produced five USILA All-Americans and six All-NESCAC selections. The Bantams also made their first NESCAC semifinal appearance (2011), their first NCAA Tournament appearance (2012), and the highest national ranking in school history (13th).
In 2015, he was selected coach of the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) East-West All-Star Game.
Praetorius played collegiately at Western New England College, where as an offensive midfielder, he helped the Golden Bears win two conference titles, make two NCAA Tournament appearances, and achieve a No. 3 national ranking in his junior year.
PraetoriusĀ was a two-year captain and First Team All-Section pick at SaugertiesĀ High School, and he was an assistant coach there for one year after graduating from WNEC. He then was an assistant coach for the women's lacrosse team at SUNY New Paltz before heading to Trinity.
Praetorius received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from WNEC in 2008, and a Master's Degree in Sports Management from Cortland State in 2015. He is also an Assistant Athletic Director at Bard, handling oversight of the Stevenson Athletic Center Fitness Center.
