ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Anthony Porto has been named as the next Assistant Coach of the Bard College Men's and Women's Swimming Program as announced on __ by Head Men's and Women's Swimming Coach and Aquatics Director Boomer Druchniak. Porto will start on August 1st.

"I couldn't be more excited to have Porto join the coaching staff," said Druchniak. "His experience working with high-level sprinters and familiarity with the Bard community will be essential as we step into the next era of Raptors swimming. He truly loves the sport of swimming, and I'm thrilled he's chosen to keep that passion here at Bard."

"Bard College has been a huge part of my swimming/coaching life for a long time now. My swimming career started when I joined the club team that trains at our facility over 10 years ago, and now my college coaching career gets to start here as well. It's an amazing full circle moment for me." said Porto. "I can't wait to hit the ground running with Coach Druchniak as we get ready to welcome our new and returning Raptors to campus in the fall. Go Raptors!"

Anthony Porto has been involved with the team as a volunteer assistant since 2023.

His coaching experience includes positions with the Northern Dutchess Aquatic Club, Rhinebeck High School, Franklin D. Roosevelt High School, and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

He has served as Head Club Coach for Northern Dutchess Aquatic Club, where he worked primarily with swimmers ages 13-21 in a year-round competitive program. In that role, he developed and implemented seasonal training plans, strength and dryland programs, and technical instruction for athletes ranging from B-minimum qualifiers to U.S. Open-level competitors.

In addition to his club coaching responsibilities, Porto served as a Varsity Swim Coach for the girls' programs at Rhinebeck High School and the boys' and girls' programs at Franklin D. Roosevelt High School.

Porto also brings extensive experience in aquatic safety and operations through his role as Regional Water Safety Coordinator for New York State Parks. In that position, he supervised lifeguarding operations throughout the Taconic Region, hired and trained lifeguards, coordinated training sessions, and assisted with facility operations. 

As a student-athlete at Ithaca College, Porto competed for three seasons with the swimming and diving program and served as team captain during his senior year.
