Bard led Skidmore in the blocks column, 3-2 after a quarter. Dong, Miller, and Dixon each had one. Tobes had three steals in the second quarter, adding five points. At the 2:26 point in the second, she had a nifty and-one finish on the fastbreak, with a scoop layup through the defense. The Raptors held Cassie Davidson, the Thoroughbreds' second leading scorer, scoreless in the first half. Bard also led in second chance points in the first half, 8-6. However, Skidmore got three-pointers from four different players in the half to separate themselves into halftime.
Both sides shot around 30% from the field in the third quarter, with the Raptors forcing a 4:34 drought on Skidmore's offense. With 4:33 left in the quarter, Dixon hit a three that was quickly followed by an and-one opportunity by Miller. She didn't convert, but that still made five straight points for Bard. In the fourth quarter, the Raptors had an 8-0 surge at the 6:48 mark led by four from Miller. They achieved their highest field goal percentage of the game in the fourth quarter, shooting 50%, which resulted in a closely contested quarter with a score of 12-13.
The Raptors will tussle with Vassar tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
