The Bard College women's basketball team took the second game of a back-to-back against Sarah Lawrence at Campbell Sports Center at the Gryphon Tournament. The Raptors defeated the Gryphons for the first time since 2019 as they regained the lead in the all-time series, 3-2.
Bard was led by junior
Shirley Dong, who scored 12 points, had a game-high four steals, and grabbed five rebounds.
Aislynn Dixon hit three-of-four from beyond the arc, scoring eight of her 11 points in the second half.
Maggy Peyton led the Raptors with two blocks. She also had ten points, scoring six in the third quarter to lead the Raptors.
Lexi Miller had ten points on three-of-five shooting, hitting a team high four free throws.
Tianna Gonzalez led the Raptors in rebounding with nine boards in just 15 minutes.
Erin Tobes added eight rebounds and led the team in assists.
Jessica Martin led the Raptors in scoring in the second quarter and had seven points on three-of-six from the field. O'Sullivan had three rebounds in ten minutes.
The Raptors took a lead in the first quarter, hitting all six of their free throws during the period. Bard's defense caused a four minute field goal drought, allowing the Raptors to create a ten-point lead with just over a minute to play in the second quarter. Dong gave the Gryphons a difficult time running their offense, playing the entire half and getting two steals.
The Raptors scored seven straight to begin the second half with two floaters from Peyton and a three from Dixon. Bard allowed just one attempt inside the paint in the third quarter, collapsing on drives and rotating to help well. In the fourth quarter, Bard held Sarah Lawrence to 2-of-14 shooting, and Dong hit a dagger three with 26 seconds left, giving the Raptors an insurmountable ten-point lead.
Shirley Dong was named to the All-Tournament team after her performance this weekend.
Bard will host Russell Sage for their home opener Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
