CANTON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's soccer team posted its second straight win to start the 2023 season, earning a 2-0 victory at SUNY Canton.
Bard (2-0) opened the scoring in the 10th minute when junior defender
Dylan Kotlowitz fired a rocket from outside the box and into the bottom left corner of the net.
Later in the first half, sophomore midfielder
Sam Gerber capped off an excellent opening week by notching his second goal of the season with the help of first-year
Jamie Coequyt. Gerber found the bottom right corner of the net after curving a ball in from the top of the box.
Junior goalkeeper
Gavin Hersey got his first shutout of the season and seventh of his career. The Raptor defensive line only allowed Canton (0-1) one shot on goal.
Bard finished with a 7-1 advantage in shots and a 5-1 advantage in corners.
Bard returns to Ferrari Field on Thursday at 6 p.m. when they host Anna Maria.
