ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Bard College announced on Tuesday the hiring of Pearllan Cipriano as Sports Information Director for the Department of Athletics and Recreation.

Cipriano comes to Bard from Shippensburg University, where she fulfilled numerous roles within the sports information department and was the primary contact for several sports, assisted with major events and championships, and oversaw social media content and strategy for 20 intercollegiate athletic teams.

"Pearl has extensive experience in all aspects of sports information at the collegiate level, and left each of her previous spots having made a great impact on both student-athletes and her colleagues," said David Lindholm, Bard's Director of Athletics and Recreation. "We're pleased to welcome her to our staff and eager to benefit from her knowledge, perspective, and enthusiasm."

"I want to thank David Lindholm and the search committee for giving me the opportunity to work at Bard," said Cipriano. "I am excited and thrilled to continue my professional career with Bard and I am looking forward to sharing and promoting the stories of the student-athletes, coaches and staff."

At Shippensburg, Cipriano functioned as the primary contact for field hockey, women's volleyball, women's basketball, women's tennis and softball, while remaining a secondary contact for the remaining Raider sports. Her work also included event management, statistics, hiring and training of student workers, and oversight of social media. She also served several months as Shippensburg University's primary photographer, documenting important campus events (alumni weekend, orientation, move-in, and Homecoming) and taking faculty and staff headshots.

Some highlights of her time at Shippensburg included being the primary contact for the 2021 field hockey team that went undefeated and won its sixth national championship in school history and also the 2022 team that finished as national runners-up. She also worked with the softball team that won the 2023 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship and went onto the 2023 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region Softball Championships.

In September 2022, Cipriano was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Diversity and Inclusion Fellowship Program Class of 2022-23. The year before, she was selected as one of six recipients of a 2022 NCAA Inclusion College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Convention grant.

Prior to Shippensburg, Cipriano was a student-athlete at Emmanuel University where she also worked as a sports information student assistant, handling all aspects of athletic communications for the Lions under the direction of Kethan Darbar.

As a collegian, Cipriano was a scholarship tennis athlete for the Lions from 2015-19. Cipriano was an All-Conference Carolinas Second Team performer and a three-time International Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic honoree. She was an integral member of an Emmanuel team that won the 2019 Conference Carolinas Championship, culminating a five-year run for the Lions that began with a winless record in 2014-15.

A native of Taunton, England, Cipriano earned three undergraduate degrees from Emmanuel University: a bachelor of science in pre-law in 2019 and bachelors of science in criminal justice and history in 2021. She graduated with her master's in Strategic Communication from Shippensburg in 2023.
