ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Bard College women's basketball team lost to Rochester Institute of Technology, 78-50, in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon.
It was the final league game of the season for Bard, and the final Liberty League game in the career of Bard senior
Christina Kiser. Kiser shattered the single season scoring record with 443 points in 18 games, or 24.6 points per game against conference opponents. It broke the regular season scoring mark set by Kelly Donnelly of Skidmore, who had 361 points in the 2017-18 season. The highest scoring average in conference play for a Liberty League regular season was previously held by RPI's Sarah Wetmore, who averaged 22.1 points per game in 2012-13.
Kiser also broke a record she already held - most free throws made in a Liberty League season. She made 118 as a first year, but this year she made 143 and led the league in free throw percentage (.851).
"I thought we finished conference play strong and we had major contributions from everyone on our team," Bard acting coach
Armando Dunn said. Our zone was awesome and we made adjustments on the fly. I am proud of the way we have grown in terms of thinking the game and playing with pace."
Kiser had 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Fellow seniors
Olivia Couture and Bri Alphonso-Gibbs had good games, too - Couture with 13 points and five rebounds, and Alphonso-Gibbs with a career-high eight points.
"Bri and Christina played excellent this afternoon," Dunn said. "It is definitely bittersweet for the seniors, but we have one last game to end the season. I am looking forward to it."
Bard's season will conclude with a non-league home game against Mount Holyoke on Wednesday night.
