ITHACA, N.Y. - In the final game of the 2019-20 season, sophmore guard
Christina Kiser became the fourth player in Bard College women's basketball history to hit the 1,000 point mark as the Raptors fell to Ithaca 90-45 Saturday afternoon.
The Bombers (20-5, 16-2 LL) exploded out of the gate thanks to 12 first quarter points from Cassidy O'Malley (Summit, N.J.), who finished with a game-high 23 points and 11 rebounds. Ithaca rode that momentum as the Raptors (5-20, 0-18 LL) found themselves down by 23 after one quarter. Bard was unable to put up many points against a strong Bomber defense and went into the half trailing by a score of 40-12.
Kiser was then able to get going in the third. After scoring just five points in the first half, the sophomore put up nine points in the third on 3-of-5 shooting and was within five points of the milestone as the game headed to the final period. Shortly after making a basket early in the fourth, Kiser converted an and-one opportunity to become the fastest player in Bard basketball history to reach the 1,000 point plateau. She added another two points after hitting the mark, and senior guard
Caleigh DeCaprio, playing in her final game, hit a trio of late shots from beyond the arc to extend her new three pointers made record to 143.
Kiser led the Raptors with 21 points, and DeCaprio scored 11 for Bard, who will return to the court in the fall of 2020.
