Raptors set program record for points in a game, breeze past Sarah Lawrence

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - For the first time in Bard College women's basketball history, the Raptors eclipsed the century mark, as they soared past Sarah Lawrence College, 100-61, Monday night at the Stevenson Athletic Center.

Entering the night, 88 points in a win over Yeshiva back in November 2012 were the most in team history, but the Raptors were able to top that mark early in the fourth quarter on a Christina Kiser three-pointer.

Overall, Bard's offense got great production out of its starting lineup, as all five members finished in double figures. Kiser led the Raptors with 31 points, nine rebounds and five assists in the effort.

Caleigh DeCaprio finished with 19 points on 5-of-10 shooting from three-point range, while Olivia Couture also poured in 19 points and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. Meanwhile, Katie Esposito and Jess Rylander each chipped in 12 points in the win. Rylander also collected a career-high seven assists along the way.

Bard grabbed a commanding 26-16 lead after 10 minutes of play. The second quarter was one of Bard's best ever, as the Raptors shot 60 percent from the field and scored 31 points. It was 57-34 at halftime.

For the game, the Raptors shot 51 percent from the field and connected on 12 three-pointers. While the long ball helped Bard in the victory, points in the paint were the main reason Bard collected the win Monday, as the team outscored Sarah Lawrence, 52-28 in the category.

Defensively, the hosts were just as brilliant, as the team dominated the glass, 57-31, caused 19 turnovers and held the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence to just 38 percent shooting from the field.

Despite the shooting woes, the Gryphons did have two major scoring threats on the night, as Camryn Davis (Moorpark, CA) finished with a game-high 33 points and Emmamazy Prior (Germantown, NY) added 26 points.

With the result, Bard moved to 5-10 on the season, while Sarah Lawrence dropped to 1-17.

Up next for the Raptors is a return to Liberty League action,, as they host Clarkson University on January 25th at 5 p.m. You can follow that game here.
