CANTON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's lacrosse team lost to 8th-ranked St. Lawrence University, 17-2, in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon.
The host Saints improved to 9-1 overall, 2-1 in conference play; Bard fell to 4-5, 0-3.
St. Lawrence scored six goals in the first quarter and five in the second to lead 11-0 at halftime. The Saints outshot Bard 30-5 in the first 30 minutes. St. Lawrence put up six goals in the second half, including three in the last three minutes.
The Saints got two goals apiece from Brett McCormack (Williamstown, MA), Jamie DeNicola (Hamden, CT) and Alec Dietsch (Clarence, NY).
Bard got a goal from
Emmet O'Connell in the third quarter, and another from
George Goceljak in the fourth quarter. Goceljak assisted on O'Connell's goal.
William Baffuto and
Will Hughes each caused two turnovers, and freshman goalie
Lyle Healey made 18 saves and scooped up a team-high three ground balls.
