Men's soccer team loses non-league game to Staten Island

Box Score STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The Bard College men's soccer team lost a non-league game to College of Staten Island, 3-0, on Monday afternoon.

Staten Island (6-10-1) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute when Nobel Hagbu (San Francisco, CA) headed in a corner kick from Ali Fares (Brooklyn, NY). The Dolphins outshot Bard 17-5 in the first half, but it remained 1-0 at the break. Staten Island also had a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks through the first 45 minutes.

Bard (2-13) outshot Staten Island 12-10 in the second half but could not get the ball behind keeper John Gioeli (Staten Island, NY). Nicolas Bacarella (Staten Island, NY) made it 2-0 in the 54th minute, and Daniel Tsygankov (Staten Island, NY) finished the scoring in the 70th minute.

Christian Letourneau and Tamaki Chiba each had two shots on goal, and Daniel Gagne made five saves.

Up next for Bard is a Liberty League game against Clarkson University on Friday at home at 4 p.m.
